Indosuez Wealth Management announces strategic appointments in Italy

Paris/Milan, 3rd May, 2018 - Following the completion of the acquisition of Banca Leonardo in Italy, Indosuez Wealth Management Group announces the appointment of:

  • Ariberto Fassati as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca Leonardo;
  • Luca Caramaschi as Managing Director and General Manager of Banca Leonardo;
  • Bertrand de Margerie as Deputy General Manager of Banca Leonardo.
  • Giovanni Bertino as Legal Representative and General Manager of Indosuez Wealth Management in Italy, replacing Luca Caramaschi. Giovanni will report to Olivier Chatain, Chief Executive Officer of CA Indosuez Wealth (Europe).

Ariberto Fassati has held a number of increasingly responsible positions within the Crédit Agricole Group and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crédit Agricole Cariparma and Crédit Agricole Leasing Italia, Vice-Chairman of Crédit Agricole FriulAdria and Crédit Agricole Carispezia and Chairman of Beni Stabili SIIQ. He is also a director of the Italian Banking Association and the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund.

Ariberto holds a degree in economics and commerce from the Bocconi University in Milan.

Luca Caramaschi joined Indosuez Wealth Management in 2015 as CEO of Indosuez in Italy. Luca started his career with RAS, where he was Head of Italian Equity Investments for three mutual funds of the group. He then moved to Banca Euromobiliare as Head of Private Banking with an intermezzo of just over a year in Credito Italiano with direct responsibility for the bond investments of asset management. After six years in Citigroup as Senior Private Banker, he joined Julius Baer Creval to collaborate on the start of Italian activities. From December 2004 to March 2015 he was responsible for the Wealth Management Division of Deutsche Bank in Italy, which under his leadership went from 1 billion to 11 billion euros in managed assets.

Luca Caramaschi is a graduate in Business Economics at the Bocconi University in Milano.

Bertrand de Margerie has been Head of the External Growth division of Indosuez Wealth Management since 2016. Bertrand has worked in Finance and International Wealth Management for over 25 years, mainly in the Asian, Middle Eastern and European markets. He joined Banque Indosuez in 1979 and held various positions in Group entities in Paris, Hong Kong, Milan, Tokyo and Riyadh. In 1998 he was appointed Corporate Secretary of the Wealth Management business line in Paris. He was then named Private Banking Chief of Staff of Indosuez Wealth Management in Switzerland from 2003 to 2011, then Head of Middle East-Africa.

Bertrand de Margerie is a graduate of ESSEC Business School.

Giovanni Bertino joined Compagnie de Suez in 1991, then Banque Indosuez's Equity Capital Markets division as Head of Origination for Italy. He was appointed wealth and financial structurer at Crédit Agricole Private Banking in Luxembourg in 1996, then headed the Corporate, Institutional Investors and External Managers departments before overseeing the launch of the Italian branch. Giovanni started his career in marketing at Unilever, later working at Andersen Consulting.

Giovanni Bertino graduated from LUISS business school in Rome and holds an MBA from the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan.
